Two wheels, four wheels, a parade...

Grandma - thanks to mzacha - rgbstock

Valencia / Cheste

This week-end will be held at the Valencia Circuit Ricardo Tormo :

the famous Classic & Legends, a concentration that aims to bring together the most beautiful two and four wheels of our country.

During these two days you will see the most important collections of Valencian motorcycles and car racing, as well as many pieces from all over Spain and even various international attractions.

In an uninterrupted schedule from 9:00 to 18:30 on Saturday and from 9:00 to 18:00 on Sunday, you will see circuit racing classic bikes, vintage cars, sides, bicycles and even  three racing events (Trophy Las Provincias).

Also during the two days there will be the circuit Freddie Spencer (who was the last pilot to hold two titles of world champion in different categories (250 cc and 500 cc) the same year) .

On Sunday, March 2d, at about 12:00 will be officially inaugurated a room that will be named Paco González in the Valencia Circuit Ricardo Tormo. Paco, “el de la lotería” ("the lottery man") is one of the pioneers of Spanish motorcycling. He became famous competing in the fifties for being the fastest to make the journey back and forth between Valencia and Madrid, to bring lists of the winning numbers of the Christmas lottery. In competition, he was the first Spanish to get up to a World podium: he won ten times the national title in the categories of 500 cc, 350 cc and 125 cc and got the podium at the British Grand Prix 1956 at the Isle of Man TT (Tourist Trophy), in the 125cc class. As a tribute, the same Sunday a race between Freddie Spencer and other famous pilots as Carlos Cardus or Pier Paolo Bianchi will be simulated.

There will also be a prestigious guest :

Is there a Madonna for motorbikers ?

Madonna - thanks to tacluda - rgbstock

Yes of course ...

As for me, I don't forget St Christopher because I owe a lot, my life, to him.

But there's an event, in Britanny, each summer, that everyone has to know about...

Here is the story :

It all began in 1953. At this time, Pierre BEGASSE, president of the Association of Friends of Motorcyclists (town: Rennes), animates festivities in different parishes served by Father Louis Prévoteau.

In 1969, Father Prévoteau is the priest of Porcaro, and becomes part of the motorcyclists' sphere. In 1971, Pierre BEGASSE offered him his first motorbike: a 125 cm3. He began to participate in various gatherings.

In 1972, to go to Yugoslavia, he decided to take and get his motorcycle driving licence and he was offered a 500 BMW.

In 1977, Father Prévoteau went to his first pilgrimage to Fatima, Portugal. He was really feeling for the world of motorcyclists and would like to do something with them, but he did not know what ...

In 1979, Jean-Yves Morel, at the motorcycle club (Rennes), suggested : "You want an animation for bikers, Father? Then do what you know: a mass, and a Pardon (in Britanny, it is a religious festival) ! ".

Thus in 1979 was held the first meeting for Madonna Pardon with 38 participants. With the help of many volunteers, and of the parish association "Providence", it will grow each year more to reach 20,000 participants (year 2000), every 14th and 15th of August. Building the Oratory of the Madonna of the Bikers in 1987, and the torchlight procession on August 14th, will be two important steps in the growth of the Madonna Pardon.

In 2003, after Father Prévoteau, Father Franck Bourges, then vicar in Redon, succeeds as host of this unusual Pardon. The Porcaro Village of Motorcyclists Association manages all the logistics. And in 2007 it was the turn of Father Jean-François Audrain being appointed chaplain for the bikers of Morbihan, and then he was in charge of the pilgrimage.

Other important steps are the blessing of the Oratory, after its expansion, by the Bishop of Vannes, and above all, the crowning of the statue on behalf of Pope Benedict XVI recognizing the Madonna Pardon of Porcaro as the favourite Sanctuary for Motorcyclists! (August 15th, 2012).

So, join them for the next meeting if you want, you and your motorcycle, to be blessed, and have fun and music in the most beautiful country of France

What would be a life without motorcycles ?

Motorcycle toy - thanks to Coscurro (rgbstock)

What would be a life without motorcycles ? Of course, just inconceivable ... It's just a little worse than a life without love!

The purpose of my blog is to identify events around motorbikes here in Spain (Valencia) and all around the world whenever I can, and wherever there will be any interesting information.

I don't have any motorcycle, currently. And I live in one of the most wonderful countries for bikers:

good weather, beautiful and well-maintained roads.

So, waiting for my next motorcycle-friend, I fill my heart, as often as possible, with sounds and smells of all motorcycles encountered ...

My first love, just after the licence, was a Big One (Honda), and here is my last one :
